My name is Louis Hulburd, I'm an aspiring game designer with a focus in writing and a student in the NYU Game Center.
I see writing as a tool to extrapolate stories and the world itself in the game to the willing audience; through a robust or minimalistic amount of words as possible. Writing is at it's best when it connects with the game around it, and should function in tandem with gameplay to tell it's story and theme.
Here are games I've worked on as a writer, either alone or in a team:
Your Final Moments: Entry into the Black and White Jam #0.(9) I worked on by myself. It's a twine game about the moments between the end and what comes next.
FISHGUN: Working in a 7 person team, I was the lead narrative designer and main writer on the project. A Surreal Movement Shooter in a bizarre world where you collect upgrades to heal and change your gun to shoot in crazy ways.
FREAK: A collaborative project for game prototyping class. A horroresque game with a fixed camera system and tank controls
Boneshot: Another collaborative college project. I worked on the level and game design rather than the writing here.
The Littlest Photon: A very brief puzzle game designed around the limitation of a 128x128 screen size.
Robin Hood: A text adventure reimagining the tale of Robin Hood, made in Twine.
Being A Vampire Sucks!: An adventure game where you play as the unfortunate spawn of a vampire, who must kill their master while avoiding death. I worked in a group of 4 as the lead creator, writer, and programmer in RenPy.
